Matthew Carroll serves as President and CEO of Immuta, a data privacy company focused on enabling the creation of regulated analytics. Matthew has spent the past decade analyzing some of the world's most complex datasets while supporting multiple US Intelligence Community customers. Prior to co-founding Immuta, Matthew served as CTO of CSC’s Defense & Intelligence Group where he led several key data fusion and analytics programs totaling over $150m in revenue and advised US Government leadership on data management and analytics issues. Prior to CSC, Matthew oversaw product management at 42six, a DC-based professional services company, and led the organization post-acquisition by CSC. In addition to his work within the civilian sector, Matthew served as an Officer in the US Army and spent time overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan. Matthew graduated from Brandeis University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Biochemistry and Biology.
Steve Touw is co-founder and CTO of Immuta. Steve has a long history of designing large-scale geo-temporal analytics across the US Intelligence community, to include some of the very first Hadoop analytics, and frameworks to manage complex multi-tenant data policy controls. This experience drove he and his co-founders at Immuta to build a software product that frees data science teams to access and work with high-value data. Prior to Immuta, Steve was the CTO of 42six solutions where he led a large big data services engineering team which was acquired by Computer Sciences Corporation. Steve holds a BS in Geography from the University of Maryland.
Mike Schiller is co-founder and VP of Customer Success at Immuta. Mike leads a team of software engineers, data scientists, and Unix systems engineers that integrate Immuta’s platform into customer enterprises, kickstart customer analytic efforts, and develop and maintain the deployment tools that allow Immuta to easily install across various customer infrastructures.
Prior to Immuta, Mike served as Senior Technical Director at 42six Solutions where he led multiple high level projects, to include building a PaaS/App Engine with an emphasis on object-level security and data discovery, and a prototype high-volume image-handling and analysis system for DARPA. Prior to 42six, Mike was Technical Director for Berico Technologies, and worked as an Engineer for RABA Technologies and the United States Department of Defense, consecutively. Mike holds a MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Johns Hopkins University, and a BS with Honors in Electrical Engineering at Penn State University.
Sapan Shah is the co-founder and Director of Innovation at Immuta where he leads the Innovation team in the development of cutting edge features. Sapan is passionate about data security and an expert in large scale and real-time data systems. Prior to Immuta, Sapan was an engineer at CSC, 42Six, Google, and FactSet Research Systems. Before his work in the industry, Sapan conducted operating systems research at Purdue University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science.
Andrew Burt is Chief Privacy Officer & Legal Engineer at Immuta, where his focus is on automating regulatory compliance within big data environments. He is also a visiting fellow at Yale Law School’s Information Society Project.
Previously, Andrew served as Special Advisor for Policy to the head of the FBI Cyber Division, where he served as chief compliance and privacy officer for the division, and as lead author on the FBI’s after action report for the 2014 attack on Sony. A former reporter, Andrew has published articles in The Atlantic, The Los Angeles Times, Slate and The Yale Journal of International Affairs, among other outlets. His book, American Hysteria: The Untold Story of Mass Political Extremism in the United States (Lyons Press, 2015), was called “a must read book dealing with a topic few want to tackle” by Nobel laureate Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
Andrew holds a J.D. from Yale Law School and a B.A. from McGill University. He is a term-member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a member of the Washington, D.C. and Virginia State Bars, and a Global Information Assurance Certified (GIAC) cyber incident response handler.
Director of Data Science
Jim Klucar is the Director of Data Science at Immuta. After a dozen years of developing high performance radar processing techniques, in 2010 he switched to developing Hadoop-based data warehouse and analysis systems. He has contributed to many open source projects including Apache Accumulo, Mesos and Myriad. Jim holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University and a MS in Applied and Computational Mathematics from Johns Hopkins University.
Director of Software Engineering
Barry Hammen is the Director of Software Engineering at Immuta where he leads the core product team. Previously, Barry was a Lead Software Engineer at 42six Solutions where he oversaw engineering efforts for several different US Intelligence Community customers. Prior to 42six, Barry was a Software Engineer at Berico Technologies and Apptis. Barry holds a BS in Computer Science and Microbiology from the University of Maryland College Park.
